Blog-aversary – A life update.

(Audience) – “Oh goodness here she is again, probably about to say the same start up line ‘It’s been a while’.

(Aimee) – “I’m back, AGAIN. It’s been a while!”

(Audience) – “I bet she apologies for it as well”

(Aimee) – “Once again I must apologise for being late to the party once again! February!! FEBRUARY, why have I left it so long?”

(Audience) – “I told you!”

*Commerce the waffling*

Hello you lovely lot, you’re probably wondering who the hell I am it’s been that long.
There have been dissertations, new careers, old careers, holidays, tears, laughter and a hell of a lot of procrastination since we last spoke. During that procrastination 6 months have upped and gone and I’m not sure where? But like I said in previous posts, it’s sort of how I work.
I feel like I have been running on empty so instead of squeezing out blog posts I’ve been doing everything other than that. However, I really want to turn things around and post more regularly – I’m sure you’ve heard all this before but I’m going to try, and there’s no harm in trying hey!

From the blog title, it’s my blog-aversary (hip hip hooray) and it’s not quite where I thought my little-rough-around-the-edges-blog would be but we’ve come a little way within 12months but we’re definitely moving.
I want to eventually re brand this blog to make it that little bit more glam and up to date for you all, who doesn’t love a refresh?!?
As for me, I am completely refreshing my life, well it certainly feels like it. I have finished my university degree and successfully passed with a 2:1. I really didn’t think it was do-able but I did it and I am so so thrilled about it, it’s motivated me to grab life by the balls and to give anything a go. So, I quit my job of nearly 5 years to pursue a new career. Pretty scary. So far it hasn’t turned out to plan and now I’m feeling slightly confused to where I’m heading in my life (any advice would be much appreciated), I feel like I have done all this hard work at uni to just land a job that I could of got without a degree. The thought of sitting in a office all day literally kills me as well, but I feel if I don’t try things then I won’t know if I like them or not, so that’s where I am at the minute. Feels like one of the weirdest times of my life to date, but it’s kind of exciting not knowing what’s round the corner.

Anyway, enough of the deep chat – I’ve done a lot of fun stuff since February and I will be sharing it with you all, so watch this space. I hope you’re prepared to be visiting Italy on your next dose of waffle! Grab that cup of tea and sneaky biscuit and I’ll give you a taste of my little Italian adventure.

I hope you have a great rest of the week/weekend and I’ll see you back on here before you know it – Ciao for now!

For the love of Lomography.

My blog posts seem to start off with the same sentence, ‘It’s been a while’.
But as usual, yes it has been a heck of a while. I mean we’ve had bonfire night, Christmas, New Year, Valentines and now Easter is fast approaching! Where has that time gone? 2016 is on to a flying start.

Currently I am in my final year at university, so tension is pretty high with a near degree under my belt and I feel like I have no time for anything, or it’s just poor time management (probably the latter). I can’t begin to tell you how many times I have said the word dissertation, assignments, deadlines, oh my god I can’t do this (then I can hear my nan saying ‘there’s no such word as can’t… and she’s right) but I feel the need to write something that doesn’t involve over analysing everything and being critical, I want to write freely.
So here I am. Youtube was to thank!
I ‘attempted’ to start writing a literature review for one of many assignments due in May and you know when it’s just not happening, I did start off with good intentions but well you know…
Recently I have been flicking through old photographs of holidays and happier times to once again ‘avoid’ assignments (but those pesky things always creep back) and pretty much all my adolescent life to date has been captured using film cameras. It is one of my few hobbies that I have and it has stuck with me for years despite how much it costs me to get them printed. Not too long ago I sifted out all the film I had taken and it’s something like 20 odd which I need to get developed, kinda pricey considering they keep hacking up the prices. Nevertheless I still have many beautiful photo’s that I have captured over the years which gives you an insight to what the hell lomography is!

Photo11_11Photo12_12Photo10_10Photo17_17Photo38_38

Why do I use lomography?
Where do I start? In today’s society this idea of ‘perfect’ is everywhere, you can’t hide from it! Social media is FILLED with celebrities and how perfect they look and it’s only photo editing and filters that make them look that way, and probably a cake mix of make-up on their face. Although I appreciate that is how they want to look or how they want to be perceived but I find it rubs off on people, especially on todays youth. I found myself living in a world where every photograph has to look perfect whether that be a selfie or a landscape, thats not how I see the world. I love the fact that lomography is ‘imperfect’ or however you want to describe it and technology is constantly advancing, and you can’t help but get suckered into it! Don’t get me wrong I love DSLR cameras and am an avid Instagrammer but I find lomography so much more interesting and artistic. Rewinding back to old times where everything was analogue I felt the world was a much more happier place, where getting your photographs developed adds an element of surprise, you can’t just simply click delete. That’s what I love, unknowingly what amazing shots you have captured, even the rubbish ones are interesting!

12278885_10153583662126072_3009301200873323186_n10482076_10152761736516072_3524549098589152018_n11698503_10153302346986072_7028672633182905623_n (1)12036702_10153485941081072_5744611864328952260_n

I recently read that a quote ‘comparison is the thief of joy’ and I find myself constantly comparing myself to others in everything I do and thinking like that can make you feel pretty negative. Something about lomography doesn’t make me feel that way and I feel absorbed and find myself not comparing myself to anything because everything I capture in lomography to me looks pretty perfect even if it isn’t, maybe thats why I love it so much!??

I’d love to know your experiences of film photography or your thoughts!
Thanks for reading you lovely lot!

Four years.

10953398_10152989843006072_1418266540953289783_n

Today is one of those days where I have to sit back and think.

Where have four years gone?

They’ve zoomed by, thats where they’ve gone.
When I look back I can’t beleive how much has changed. It’s madness.
It is my fourth anniversary with my boyfriend today. It may seem like nothing to some but to me, jeez it feels like a lifetime (in a good way may I add). He has made me into such a better person, one that tries to fret less, one that tries to enjoy each day and learn from the good, bad and the ugly.
I’m still working on it those things….ha.
But four years ago I wouldn’t of even acknowledged those things.
So what have I learnt?

Compromise. Oh yes thats a biggy. You can’t have everything your own way I’m afraid, even though your together you still need to both be able to grow and be your own person. When we first started seeing each other it mainly consisted of him playing his xbox all day while I watched… (you may wonder why I stayed, at the time….i had no idea). He used to have a huge cicrle of friends which consisted of more xbox. Numerous arguments would arise from that, I’d feel unwanted blah blah blah and from his point of you well he’d being doing it for years and for a girl to suddenly come along and mess up his social habits well as you can imagine, it’s difficult. But you both have to meet along the line somewhere and you end up falling into your own couple habits. So hang in there.

50/50. It is still something even after 4 years we are struggling with. Yes you got it, house chores. After being together for 2 years we decided to get our own place, putting into words it sounds so soon but when you know you know. Personally I feel like I do everything for the house and he comes up with every excuse under the sun for why he hasn’t done this that or the other. But he is getting better. We both understand what annoys one another within the house. For example I hate it when he doesn’t do any of the washing and magically thinks all his clothes get washed and hung up by a fairy and he hates it that I always forget to refill the water filter jug (I’m working on it). You learn to try and not annoy each other.
It’s an ongoing process and I’m sure there are a million things that I do that annoy him, but he can’t see this so we won’t mention it! Shhhhh.

Balance. When I first met Ezra I found it ever so difficult to share him with his friends. I mean I found someone who is my boyfriend and my bestfriend and why would I want to hang out with anyone else??? and it’s the ultimate worst when you don’t see them for a week/weekend. Don’t do it boys and girls.
You end up getting this really annoying attachment thing going on. I used to get so jealous when he went out with others and didn’t include me. I felt like a bridezilla….minus the bride bit. Maybe just a crazy girlfriend. I’ll go with that.
Yes I had my own friends but at the time, they were doing their own thing and I barely ever saw them.
You defintely need that balance between friends and your relationship. My friends are everyone I work and go to uni with so I get my balance there, and for Ezra well he has friends here there and everywhere but I love it when he comes home from being out with them, it’s like he’s had a social release which he doesn’t get from me. And boy do people need it. New faces and stories is refreshing and telling them to one another I think makes your relationship healthy.

There are so many more things that I could tell you I’ve learnt but… that could last a while.
Have you learnt anything from your relationships? I’d love to know.

It’s been a while..

I’ve missed you!
Thats if you remember who I am still?…I hope so.
I am feeling EMPOWERED right now (currently listening to Adele’s new song) it’s giving me the motivation people my fingers are typing!!!
It’s happening.

How have you all been? Life for me has been extremeley busy and i can’t apologise for not posting regularly because well you know, life is manic sometimes.
I have not long started my third year at university which means the dreaded D word, yep you got it, DISSERTATION. I shouldn’t be wishing my life away but is it summer yet? All this stress will all be gone and I can enjoy you guys and blogging again (hi 5).

But despite me wishing for summer, I bloomin love autumn – which is my main inspiration for clicking on that pencil at the top of the page and typing something (huge round of applause).

Autumn, yes! your beautiful and you just confirmed it today! You can not beat a sunday morning autumnal walk, I absolutely love it.
I’ve been waiting a while for a day like today, everything was perfect. There was the right amount of crisp in the air, blue skies, sunshine sweeping through the trees and obviously the perfect crunch to the leaves. Every weekend I plan to go it always decides to rain or be really dull weather, you need that sunshine to make the woods seem like a completely different place.

For me being in the great outdoors gives me instant release. I feel far away from uni work, house work, christmas list planning and just general life. At the minute I feel like I have no time for anything, planning to see friends and family is just a no go, weekly exercise routines are straight out of the window and right now me and university assignments are becoming eversomore closer than ever, well thats what the assignments think, I’d rather have zero relationship with those little buggers.

Anyway back to my my autumn day. This wood we went to I have been coming here ever since I was small and it never gets boring! Every direction you move your body or even your eyes for that matter you see something different and thats what I like!
It was so nice just to roll out of bed, eat breakfast and just go out, no make-up, no effort, grab my wellies and just get out there, it’s just the best.

Tee & Jeans

IMG_0915

//From forcing myself to take outfit posts I have come to the conclusion I definitely basics. T-shirt and jeans any day, it’s just so comfortable. As much as I love all types of clothes I’m not going to wear something that I don’t feel confident in, I mean who am I trying to impress? no one!
If you read my post from The best weekend then you might be suspicious that I am wearing the same clothes (oo your such a detectives). Yes I thought I would kill to birds with one stone, but not literally, I could never do that.

//My statement in any outfit I wear is that I am always accompanied with a tan bag or shoes, I have a thing for tan. All my bags look the same but are all a different shade of tan, it’s an addiction.
//Stripes is my second biggest addiction. I don’t know what it is about them but I am constantly buying stripes, I just think they are such a simple statement without having to go overboard and a plain striped tee won’t break the piggy bank which is always a bonus.

IMG_0893
IMG_0895

// So where is it all from did I hear?

TopOlive clothing based in Cheltenham, I could buy the whole shop if I could afford to and they have a lush Instagram account!

JeansASOS high waisted cropped ankle grazers! I prefer these to the Topshop Joni by a mile off. I can actually breathe in them and they graze my ankles! I haven’t come across any ankle grazer that does that for me.
In the Joni I have to go a waist size bigger just so my stomach can move, they fit me fine but they seem to have an extra tightness in that area. So if you have a similar problem head over to ASOS, cheaper as well and you don’t feel like your becoming a whale, you can fit into your actual size guys!

ShoesPrimark. I’ve had these for a while and they are lasting really well, I am not a big Primark fan as I feel everyone ends up having the same clothes, but so far I haven’t seen anyone in these shoes but I am sure thousands of folk have them.

Necklace- Accessorize. Cheap and cheerful gold necklace which pretty much goes with anything!

Bag- Topshop. This bag was a bit of an investment I must say it was around £60 and for a student it did break the piggies BUT I needed it. I have this ethic of if you want it buy it or else you’ll regret it, so many times I have resisted buying something and gone on to majorly regret it. So if you can’t stop thinking about it bite the bullet.

Let me know what you think! It was a right laugh trying to get photographs for this neither Ezra and I are models or photographers and he had to keep getting me to say B*******s to smile and look ‘natural’. If you like the look of the location it is definitely worth a visit all details are on a previous blog post called ‘A great weekend’.

While composing this blog I was watching a small Youtuber family called The Michalaks, I absolutely love them they are my all time favourite! Check them out!
I’m thinking of writing a blog post about my favourite youtubers, so watch this space!

The best weekend.

IMG_0749

//I’ve had the best weekend guys in what feels like ages. It is so nice to enjoy quality time with my other half that doesn’t involve sitting on the sofa bingeing on Netflix (let’s face it, we all do it!). After work on Saturday Ezra took me out to Birmingham to play crazy golf, (as in our minds we’re still children) and then he treated me to meal in a tapas bar, was lush BUT the photographs I took for it were pants.

However, Sunday was the best! It is crazy how oblivious to places that are literally on our door step. Ezra and I ended up visiting an English heritage property called Whitley Court which is 10minutes from Worcester city centre. I’d heard good things, and it seemed like our kind of place and it certainly was! It’s on the same road as my University and I was absolutely clueless, can’t wait to visit it back in the new academic year and get my revision underway (cough cough not the revision side).
There was so much to do there which included woodland walks, lakeside walks, ruins, stately gardens, rustic boathouse, the church and a really cute tea room.

//The building is grade I listed and was one of thee grandest buildings of the Midlands but now is an amazing ruin, caused by a fire in 1937 (thanks wikipedia!). Despite the wreckage it was absolutely breath taking. You could still see all the old fireplaces and remains of the wallpaper, every five minutes I would keep going wow, wow, WOW. I just found it so fascinating.

Whoaa…see I told you! Breathtaking. It looked like something that you would see in Rome. It had such a unique atmosphere and there was just so much to absorb. Out of everything Ezra was most interested in the organ, thats the musician in him!

//Gosh, just look at it!

//Even if seeing these kind of treasures don’t interest you I would definitely recommend the tea room. I mean who doesn’t like cake?!?.
£12.50 for a high tea for two, choice of a cake each (Ezra went for victoria sponge and I went for coffee and walnut, had to be done) a scone each with cream and jam and a choice of your own pot of tea. Despite it being lush there were wasps, WASPS everywhere. Ezra and I looked like right wimps flapping around everywhere whereas everyone else was casually ignoring there personal wasps attacks.

/We had such a fabulous time (think the big grins say it all), I highly recommend it….even if you do just go for the cream tea!

Can’t wait to see where else we can go on our next weekend off!

What I’m wearing.

Edit 1

//I am not one for having my photo’s taken but clothes is something I am absolutely adore like most bloggers out there. While shopping today I picked up numerous amounts of clothes which were near purchases but I resisted, somehow. At the back of mind I could hear a voice saying ‘car tax to pay car tax to pay’ so I grumpishly (is that even a word?) hung it back up in the shop. I pretty much did that for the length of my time shopping.

//Instead of showing off what I have (n’t) brought my mind was telling me to show off some clothes out of my monstrously unorganised wardrobe- which my boyfriend is always having a moan at. Because let’s face it I do have a lot of clothes and I probably don’t even wear half of them but ONE DAY I will wear it, I’m sure a lot of people say the same.

SPLIT2

FotorCreated//So today I was wearing a combination of high street shops.

//Top    –  Urbanoutfitters
Jeans – Topshop Joni
Shoes – New look

//I am a T-shirt and jeans girl ultimately and I love boyfriend style clothes but I feel it doesn’t do anything for my figure, I mean the whole time I was attempting to take photographs I kept thinking ‘oh my my legs are so chunky, why do I keep slumping? I need a hair cut….it could go on and on’ and REMIND me to invest in a tripod, you should of seen my set up, had a chair on the garden table I had a foot rest on that and Disney’s Tangled dvd propping my camera with some driftwood. Pffft. I know. And what I’ve learnt from these photo’s is why my fringe is a different colour to my hair?!? My hair colour is completely natural – how bizarre.

//Let me know what you think about this little post as I don’t feel completely sure about it! Any feedback would be much appreciated.

//Analogue cameras! Where do I begin.

//These beauties are something I have been using since around 14years old, gosh nearly 10 years ago, scary.
Although I am lover of the handy digital camera going back to how it used to be I find it refreshing. It’s nice coming away from the reality of technology and the modern world, I swear life was simpler when everything was analogue, especially analogue pause in the 90’s now that amusement of people still moving on pause was pretty funny, anyway I am waffling off course here.

Back to basics, here she is, my fisheye no.2. She’s very battered and bruised but she works good as new.

//I have many other lomo cameras such as Diana f+, Diana mini, Diana baby, La Sardina and Holga 3D but I find myself always crawling back to the good old fisheye. She comes with me on pretty much every holiday and outing.

Here’s what you can expect from Lomography style camera’s.
Collage edit

//Awh jeez I just love them, they are in every photo frame in my house, it is like I am literally in a fish bowl!
//I urge anyone and everyone to pick up a camera film camera, even the cheap disposable ones you can buy are brilliant they are just as good! You won’t get the fisheye effect BUT I can guarantee it will have a Lomo effect! And who doesn’t want that!
//The best photo’s I get from my fisheye is when I go on holiday, blue skies really bring out the best in these film photographs.

//These were all taken in pigeon park in New York City in November 2014 (best park ever, equipped with a hilarious pigeon man) and they are some of the best shots I have captured of animals apart from my cats.
These are just a few examples of what you can create, I’ll create some more posts on about my plastic cameras’s such as film exposure effects and I have even got an underwater case for my fisheye which has produced some really fabulous photo’s as I am on holiday next week I will be able to play around with the underwater case more and see what other photo’s I can create!
